Lisa Starr, DVM, CCRP, CVA, CVSMT
Dr. Starr provides a wealth of experience and knowledge in the fields of veterinary physical rehabilitation, acupuncture, and chiropractic care (veterinary spinal manipulative therapy). She was the head of the Physical Rehabilitation Department, practiced general medicine, and completed a rotating internship at a busy specialty, emergency, and general practice hospital on the East Coast over the course of 4.5 years. After moving to Chicago, she worked at a comprehensive Veterinary Physical Rehabilitation Clinic for 5 years prior to starting Pets in Balance in 2015. Dr. Starr provides compassionate care and strives to listen and address owner concerns about their pets. Her goal is to help pets achieve optimal health and activity levels through promoting pain control, addressing mobility issues, and focusing on living a healthy lifestyle with preventative care and nutrition.
Dr. Starr graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Spanish prior to completing her veterinary degree at The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She believes achieving balance is important both in work and life, and transfers that energy into her work. Dr. Starr loves to travel, explore new places, and enjoys the outdoors. She experienced physical rehabilitation first hand after having two ACL surgeries to repair injuries sustained on the soccer field. Currently, she enjoys skiing, running, and biking. While she supports the local sports teams, Dr. Starr remains an avid Duke basketball and Ohio State football fan to this day.
